Well, for me... It has made me realize that every penny counts. I was lucky enough to receive unemployment benefits for the first 15 months, but now 4 months without any income, has made use re-look at everything we do.
This spring, we planted our first ever garden... Some money had to be invested... but come next year over all it shouldnt cost use much as we plan on saving seeds this year, to be used in years to come.
For entertainment, we have focused on the free events that are always going on around the city... from free childrens camps, BBQs, Theaters in the Park, or just enjoying the paths and walkways throughout the city. But as time passes on and the savings gets smaller and smaller... we have been forced to look at other ways to find the necessities of life...
Years ago I used to contest... and at my peak I was winning in excess of $50,000 worth of everything you can imagine! Trips, groceries, toys, clothing, cleaning products, personal hygeine products, entertainment, electronics and even cash... So we as a family made a decision that I would return to this, as any of these winnings would help with those extra expenditures we face during the year, like birthdays, Christmas and family vacations.
Still not finding away to help with with our groceries, and personal needs, I found a website SmartCanucks. This site has taught me so much in such a short time.
So in this blog, I hope to pass on what I have learnt!
